Call To Worship

Bonjour Mates,

This is the first post on my new blog, Interactive Worship. Why interactive worship you ask? Well, that's because I want you to interact on the subject of worship. I'll get things going with an initial thought and you chime in with your thoughts and also with your thoughts about others' thoughts about my thoughts. Lotta heavy thinking gonna be going on here.

The first thought has to do with the Call to Worship. Our pastor, Paul has been going through the elements in our worship serivces Eastern Shore Presbyterian and has addressed the call to worship recently. The main point was that God is calling us to worship first. It is not us calling each other first. God is the initiator. Pretty cool that He is seeking us out.

Here's my question for you. In what ways does God call you to worship Him during your normal day? How has he called you to Himself lately? Give me some examples, like through a conversation with a friend, reading the Bible or a book, nature, watching a movie. Give me some details!

I love the hymn, "This Is My Father's World," especially the line that says, "This is my Father's world/He shines in all that's fair/In the rustling grass I hear Him pass/He speaks to me everywhere."

Post on, my friends. Let's stay on this subject please until my next post. Inspire each other.

Merci,

George

  1. An obvious thought that comes to mind 1st is when we hear of answers to prayer, or when we see His hand in our lives and the lives of our friends restoring relationships, etc.
One that might not be so obvious is when I hear His still small voice calling me to obedience. Ex. when He gently reminds me to speak lovingly to my children when they have disobeyed me instead of my 1st reaction which would be one of frustration or even anger. I am grateful and praise Him in that moment that He is faithful to grow me up in Him and that He is not going to let me go off on my own destructive path. Praise be to God!

  2. I am really drawn to God through beauty so the flowers blooming, deep blue sky and sunshine really help me to feel close to God. Also, I am worshiping this week with Psalm 145. It is a great worship psalm. No teeth bashing or duplicity. The writer was really exaulting in God's love.

  3. Ok so dupicity does not mean what I thought. I meant that the writer (or David) was not venting his feelings to or questioning God and then coming back around to praising Him. This is a psalm full of praise, adoration and trust in God's faithfulness to his beloved. Sorry for the weird or confusing post.

  4. One thing that comes to mind is that God calls us to worhip through music. It's amazing that God can bless someone with talents and/or abilities and then those that were blessed turn around and worship God with their gift.
